Midfielder happy to be back, and to get a goal, but disappointed by defeat to Morecambe
Kevan Hurst says Saturday was a day of mixed emotions for him as Blues fell to a disappointing defeat at home to Morecambe.
The 28-year-old was making his first start of the season, and scored his first goal of the campaign to leave him with positives individually, but says the defeat had left a bitter taste.
He said: “It was a day of mixed emotions for me personally because it was great to make my first start of the season and grab a goal against my former club too.
“Unfortunately we lost the game in a really disappointing manner and that’s a real shame because we went into the game feeling confident of getting a result.
“Morecambe were very professional and very organised defensively and we just made too many poor decisions which meant we weren’t able to break them down.
“We conceded sloppy goals. To concede just five minutes after going ahead wasn’t good because it knocked our confidence I think.
“On a personal note, it was great to be back in the team. I was feeling good, even late on, but it’ll take me a little while to get back to 100 per cent.
“I don’t think I’m far off because we’ve had a few behind-closed-doors games which has helped. Hopefully I can keep my place for the game against Scunthorpe on Friday night.
“It’s important we put in a good performance on Friday now. We need to get back to winning ways and put these defeats behind us.”
