Manager pleased with youngsters' display in Gills friendly
Phil Brown was full of praise for the club’s youngsters after they drew 1-1 in a behind-closed-doors game with Gillingham on Tuesday afternoon.
Ryan Auger and Jack Payne have both been on the bench for Blues in our last two league games, and Brown was impressed with their performance against the Gills.
Brown said: “The youngsters are getting the chance on the bench and these behind closed doors games are a big opportunity for them.
“It’s great that we’ve got so many because it really gives them a chance to play games and get minutes under their belt.
“For them, the small squad is giving them the chance to be very close to the first-team and game time.
“Ryan did really well and Jack got another goal which is good for both of them who have been on the bench recently.
“Josh Banton also did really well up against Antonio German. He’s played in the Football League and is big and powerful but Josh did really well.
“Against Gillingham we were much better in the second-half. I’m not sure what Graham Coughlan said at the break, but it worked.”
