Back Blues with Sky Bet

6 September 2013

Back Blues against Morecambe this weekend with Sky Bet

Just two away teams won last weekend with seven home teams securing victories. We are set for another action packed weekend in Sky Bet League 2. Read on for Sky Bet’s, take on Blues’ chances this weekend.

Phil Brown’s side searching for three wins in-a-row at home

Southend United suffered a second successive defeat on their travels after being beaten 2-1 by Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park last weekend. It followed on from their injury-time defeat at Chesterfield, which saw their 100% winning start to the season come to an end, and they have slipped a further three places to seventh in the League Two table.

The Shrimpers are much stronger on their home turf though. They’ve beaten Northampton and Plymouth at Roots Hall already this season without conceding a goal and the 2/1 on the win to nil looks a strong option here.

Freddy Eastwood has been in great form for The Shrimpers this term. He’s started in all five league games this season and has scored in four of them. He’s also got a great knack of scoring having netted in his previous game. The front two of Eastwood and Barry Corr look to be one of the strongest partnerships in the division and Eastwood is 9/2 to be the last goalscorer in this fixture.

Other reasons to bet:

• Southend have had under 2.5 goals in their last seven home matches
• Southend have conceded first in their last six matches against Morecambe
• Southend have won to nil in three of their last five matches
