Will Atkinson wants Blues to turn their good performances into wins.
Will Atkinson says it’s time for Blues to turn good performances into results when Bristol Rovers
The midfielder says the performances in recent games, other than Morecambe, have been worthy of the three points.
But he says it’s important on Friday that the performance results in three points against John Ward’s side, as both teams look to get back to winning ways.
He said: “It’s a results based business so while the performances have been good and we’ve deserved something from most of our games this season, if you don’t get the win you’re always disappointed.
“Against Bury we played well again and deserved to win the game but we let ourselves down in the last few minutes. The three points on Friday night is important for both teams and we’re confident we can come out on top.
“Everyone looks at the number of wins, not the number of good performances. We got two good early wins at home and played well against Scunthopre until an unfortunate error let us down.
“We’ve got to take the positive from last Saturday which is we ended the losing run. While it may have felt like a defeat we’ve ended that run so now it’s about building on that.”
Will is looking forward to his second Friday night game with Blues, and while he says the fans can play their part by creating a great atmosphere, he says the players must step up to the mark to end this run.
He added: “No-one is going to win games for us. We’ve got to roll our sleeves up and get the result ourselves. Hopefully the fans will get right behind us again on Friday and we can get that win.
“There’s no easy games in this division. Bristol Rovers are always tipped to be up there, but we want to be up there too so we’ve got to start winning games.
“The atmosphere at the Scunthorpe game was great and I’m sure we’ll have that again on Friday night against Bristol Rovers.
“I think the early goal might be quite important. We did it against Northampton and Plymouth and if we can get that on Friday it will give everyone a big lift.”
