Coker: Raring to get going again

Defender can't wait to get back in action after missing our last game through suspension

Ben Coker can’t wait to return to action this Saturday after serving his suspension last weekend against Bristol Rovers.

The left-back has been in impressive form for Blues since the start of the campaign but missed last Friday’s game after being sent off at Bury two weeks ago.

Ben admits he didn’t enjoy being sat on the sidelines, but was pleased to see the lads pick up another point, and now says it’s all about building on that and getting back to winning ways at Oxford United on Saturday.

He said: “It was horrible not being able to play last weekend, it’s never enjoyable watching from the side especially when you’re not out injured.

“But watching on I thought the lads did well and deserved to win the game, but it just wasn’t meant to me again which was a shame.

“We might not have won in the last six but we’ve drawn the last two. We need to build on that and get back to winning ways against Oxford United on Saturday.

“I can’t wait to be back involved, I’ve worked hard in training and got 45 minutes under my belt against Colchester United in midweek so I’m raring to go.

“We don’t know the team yet but hopefully I can be in from the start. We’re a bit short defensively but John (White) and Strakes did well at left-back against Bristol Rovers so we’ll have to see.”

Ben knows Saturday’s game against Oxford won’t be an easy one however. He added: “Oxford have made a good start to the season but the lads here are still full of confidence. We’ve not played too badly in most of the games this season.

“We’ve looked good away from home and hopefully we can turn that performance into three points on Saturday.”
