Skipper says players are looking forward to playing in front of bumper crowd this weekend
Southend United captain John White says the players are looking forward to the bumper crowd at Roots Hall on Saturday for the game against York City.
And the defender says the players are all desperate to reward the supporters with another big three points in League 2.
John was on hand on Wednesday to give a helping hand at the Ticket Office to take your calls for tickets for the game.
He said: “It was a new experience for me – I’d much rather be out playing football but it was good to be able to take some calls from fans and sell some tickets for the big game.
“It’s one we’re all really looking forward to as players. The support has been magnificent home and away this season so we’re already used to great backing from the stands.
“But it will be great to hopefully reach 9,000 which is the target the club set. As players we want to reward all the supporters with a good performance and three points.”
White says his role is much easier at the moment with the team winning and confidence aplenty.
He added: “When the team is low as captain it’s your responsibility to lift them all but I’ve not had to do that in the last couple of weeks because everyone is full of belief.
“We’re playing some really good football, scoring goals and most importantly as a defender, keeping clean sheets. It’s a recipe for success and hopefully it’ll be the case again on Saturday.”
John also thanked fans who had donated to his Movember campaign already. He said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I’m up against David Wright of Colchester in a competition to see who can raise the most.
“Of course it’s all going to a good course but we’re ahead of David at the moment and hopefully with your continued support it can stay that way and we can get one over Colchester.
“Ever since I came to the club the fans have been fantastic and hopefully we can reward them out on the pitch this weekend.”
