Rob Kiernan says Blues' team spirit can help them go on a long unbeaten run
Rob Kiernan says the team spirit at Blues is the best he has experienced out on loan following the 2-0 win against Exeter City.
Kiernan has now featured in five games that Blues have kept a clean sheet in since joining on a three-month loan for Wigan.
The defender put in another impressive display alongside Luke Prosser at St James Park, and says the effort from the whole team is superb.
Kiernan: “I’ve been at quite a few clubs on loan but the team spirit here is probably the best I’ve seen.
“There’s a real togetherness and a willingness to work extremely hard for one another and that is getting us good results.
“It was another really good team performance today and we deserved the three points.
“The whole team is playing with confidence and that’s important. You just want to keep playing well and picking up results.
“It was great to see Cauley (Woodrow) get a goal – thought I’m not sure he actually got the final touch!
“We scored two good goals and put ourselves in a good position and then defended well as a team to pick up the win.
“Clean sheets are always nice for a defender so to have got three in a row now is great and we just want to keep it going.”
Kiernan felt his defensive partner Prosser was Blues’ man-of-the-match at St James Park.
He added: “Luke was brilliant today. We all worked well as a defence but he was winning everything in the air.
“He was the best player on the pitch for me today and he deserved the clean sheet as much as anyone.
“We are working well as a back four and hopefully we can just keep that going and go on a good unbeaten run.”
