Blues boss on facing League 1 side Brentford in pre-season
Phil Brown says the pre-season friendly against Uwe Rosler’s Brentford will be a good test for his side as they look to step up their preparations ahead of the season kicking off three weeks later.
The game, to be played at Boreham Wood on Friday 12th July, kick-off 7:30pm, will see Brown’s side come up against Football League opposition for the first time in pre-season.
It will mean Blues’ players play four pre-season games in a week, starting with Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday 6th July.
Brown said: “Uwe is a good friend of mine. I remember taking a Preston side to Griffin Park when I was in charge and we won 3-0.
“There’s been a big turnaround for him there since then and they were very strong last season in League 1, which is an extremely tough division.
“They’ve got power and pace and very good players in key positions, that’s something we can learn from.
“That is where you can find success, just as Brentford found out this season, they really impressed me with their performances.
“They were very unlucky to miss out on promotion but I’m sure they’ll be strong again next year.
“It will be a very good test for us and I’m sure Uwe will bring a strong side.
“Having faced three non-league teams this game will end what will be a tough first week of fixtures for the players.”
