Southend United Community & Educational Trust is currently recruiting for their Level 3 Futsal Academy programme and their Foundation Learning course.
Starting in September 2013 - with trials to be held on Wednesday 12th June, the Futsal course is a two-year programme, where students combine studying for a BTEC Level 3 in Sport, with training for Southend United Futsal Team. The BTEC covers units such as Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Testing and Training, Nutrition, Psychology, Technical Skills, Coaching and many more with lessons held at Roots Hall. The course also gives students the opportunity to gain coaching and referee qualifications.
Training is held twice a week at David Lloyd and is delivered by one of our UEFA B level coaches. The team also plays in a competitive league against other clubs such as Leyton Orient, Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace.
Futsal is a small sided game of football played indoors that improves ball manipulation, control and reaction. It’s played at a high tempo and takes the athletes to their highest performance boundaries. Players that started through Futsal include Messi, Ronaldo and Fabregas.
We feel this is an exciting opportunity for young people aged 16-18 years to not only achieve a qualification which could allow entry to university but also to represent Southend United against other professional football clubs in the Futsal league. Spaces are limited to 15, and 4 A-C grades at GCSE are required for entry. Please see www.tvseducation.com http://www.tvseducation.com
for further information on the Futsal programme and to apply.
The Foundation Learning Programme is a 12 week course that runs three days a week at Roots Hall with spaces to start in September students will gain a Level 1 Certificate in Sport as well as qualifications in Employability and a Functional Skill.
