Mark and Barry visited Bournes Green Junior, who won the Southend United npower Community Cup
Barry Corr and Mark Phillips visited Bournes Green Junior School on Thursday to present members of the boy’s football team with a certificate and medal for winning the Southend United stage of the npower Community Cup competition.
Barry and mark also participated in a question and answer session with the whole school (264 pupils), taking time to answer many questions from the 7-11 year old pupils at the school.
Bournes Green will represent Blues a the Southern Final up against schools representing AFC Wimbleon, Aldershot Town, Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Exeter City, Gillingham, Northampton Town, Oxford United, Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe Wanderers.
The winner of that stage will represent the Southern Area at Wembley Stadium against the winners of the Northern Area ahead of the League 2 Play-off final.
The school also took part in a training session prior to Barry and Mark attending their assembly.
It wasn’t just a memorable day for the pupils and the boy’s football team – Mr Smith, the staff member in charge, is a Blues fan himself. Hopefully Mr Smith will be enjoying more than one trip to Wembley this season!
