One change for visit to Port Vale

9 March 2013

Mickey Spillane replaces Danny Mayor

There was one change to Blues’ starting XI for the trip to Port Vale as Mickey Spillane replaced the injured Danny Mayor.

With Paul Sturrock absent, Graham Coughlan took charge of proceedings as Blues switched to a 4-3-3 formation.

Britt Assombalonga led the line in attack with a midfield five of Spillane, Bilel Mohsni, Ryan Leonard, Kevan Hurst and Matt Lund.

The defence was unchanged from the visit of Rotherham last Saturday.

Coughlan said: “We hope we can frustrate the home fans in the opening half an hour of the game by packing the midfield.

“It’s a big pitch so hopefully we can use that to our advantage and get balls into the box.

“Paul is disappointed to be missing the game, but he’s on the mend and that’s the most important thing.”

Blues: Smith; Clohessy, Prosser, Cresswell, Straker; Hurst, Leonard, Mohsni, Spillane, Lund; Assombalonga
Subs: Harris, Bentley, Spicer, Woodyard, Eastwood, Corr
