Academy receive welcome funding

23 March 2013

The Club’s academy received some welcome funding from Essex’s Number 1 Volkswagen Van Centre which helped to fund the academy’s trip to Germany.
We took our under-16 squad and 15 staff members, who were involved in an educational weekend, to take part in a top indoor tournament against some of Germany’s finest under-17 academy clubs.
All the staff and players had a fantastic weekend, and were very thankful to Chris Bunce and all the staff at VW Vans Chelmsford for being able to help fund the trip.

Luke Hobbs said: “We were delighted to receive the funding from Chris and the guys at VW Vans.
“It helped massively when it came to the trip to Germany in which the staff and players all had a very enjoyable weekend.
“This is just the start of a good relationship between the academy and Chris and the guys from Volkswagen; one which will be beneficial to the staff, parents, players and the academy”
Chris added: “Volkswagen Van Centre in Chelmsford, Essex’s No 1 Volkswagen Van Centre are proud to sponsor Southend United Youth section in 2013.

“We have already donated a four figure sum to help in the future development of the youth section of the club and are really keen to further develop this relationship long term.

“A further £150.00 will be donated to the youth section of the club in addition to the original sponsorship already agreed for every recommendation that results in a sale of a commercial vehicle.

“If you recommend a company that buys 10 commercial vehicles this would be a further £1500 that the youth section of the club will receive.”
