Brown names squad for Madrid

21 July 2013

Trialists Conor Clifford and Don Cowan will be travelling to Madrid with Blues

Phil Brown has today named the 18-man playing squad that will travel to Madrid for Blues' pre-season trip and game against Real Madrid C.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers:

Daniel Bentley
Luke Chambers

Defenders:

John White
Chris Barker
Ryan Cresswell
Luke Prosser
Mark Phillips
Ben Coker

Midfielders:

Marc Laird
Michael Timlin
Kevan Hurst
Anthony Straker
Conor Clifford (Trialist)
Will Atkinson
Ryan Leonard

Strikers:

Freddy Eastwood
Don Cowan (Trialist)
Barry Corr

Speaking about the two trialists going to Madrid, Brown said: “Don has done well since he’s been here and it will be good to have a further look at him in Madrid. He’ll play some part in the game and we’ll watch how he gets on in the training sessions.

“Conor is a good footballer who for the last couple of years has been looking for a home. He’s been with Chelsea and is the sort of midfielder I’m looking for at the moment – someone who will rough it up a bit when we need to.

“Josh Rees was another trialist who played on Saturday but unfortunately he won’t be coming with us. We may take another look at him once we’re back from Madrid in another behind-closed-doors game, but we’ll see how things progress on that front.

“The other trialists; Mark Carrington, Marvin Wijks and Dan Fitchett won’t be involved again.”

The Club’s media team will be in Madrid to bring you all the latest news and behind-the-scenes footage. Throughout our time in Madrid, will be using the hashtag #bluesinmadrid on Twitter, so get involved!
