Blues travel to Braintree for their third pre-season game
Blues head into their third pre-season game in five days this evening when they visit Conference side Braintree Town.
Phil Brown’s side have won both their friendlies so far, scoring three in both, and will be looking to get another good run out under their belts as they step up their preparations ahead of the new season.
Speaking after yesterday’s 3-1 win at Bishop’s Stortford, Brown said: “It was another good display but the most important thing is that we didn’t pick up any injuries.
“That’s the key thing during all these games, we have to hope we come through unscathed. We’ll be hoping that’ll be the case after the Braintree game.
“The lads worked hard for the 60 minutes but I could tell they were starting to tire slightly towards the end of the eleven that replaced them saw the game out comfortably and played good football.
“Braintree is another step up tonight and those lads that played 30 minutes last night will play 60 this evening and the others will play the final 30.
“Barry Corr and Ryan Leonard had little niggles that won’t keep them out for long but we just didn’t want to risk them unnecessarily.”
Will Atkinson also played 30 minutes last night and Brown was pleased with his fitness levels, adding: “I thought Will did well and got about the pitch while he was on. He’s still a little bit behind fitness wise so 30 minutes was about right for him.”
Tickets for tonight’s game are available on the door, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
The goals from the game will be on Blues Player on Thursday or Friday.
