Blues boss backs his side to cause upset in the FA Cup
Paul Sturrock has backed his side to prove the bookies wrong against Brentford in the FA Cup third round.
It’s no surprise that Uwe Rosler’s side will be favourites to win the game at Roots Hall on Saturday following a run that has seen them lose just once in 16 games – against Blues in the JPT.
But the Blues manager is expecting his side to respond following two defeats in a row in the league and do the double over the League 1 outfit.
Paul said: “The bookies are not daft. They (Brentford) will be the favourites for the game.
“They’ve been on a very good run and have got themselves 2nd in League 1 which is some achievement.
“But my boys are smarting after two defeats in a row so I’m hoping we will see a reaction from them.
“It’s a game I think we can win if we go about it in the proper manner, but there’s no doubt it will be tough.”
Having beaten the Bees once already this season, Paul says his side can take confidence, though he admits this will be a much tougher game than the one earlier in the season.
He added: “We can take heart from that 2-1 win because it was a good performance and we deserved to progress.
“But this game will be completely different. You have to remember five or six players will come into the side for the game on Saturday.
“They are an in form team who will be full of confidence so there’s no doubt it’s going to be a big test.”
