31 January 2013

Ben Reeves joins Blues on a 28 day loan deal

The Club are delighted to announce that Ben Reeves has joined on loan from Premier League side Southampton, initially for 28 days.

The 21-year-old, who has played in the Premier League this season for the south-coast side, initially began his career as a left-back but has since converted into a midfielder.

He made his Premier League debut as a substitute for Southampton in their 3-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park and has made six appearances in all competitions so far this term for them.

He scored his first goal for Southampton against Stevenage in the League Cup in August 2012.

Reeves enjoyed a month’s loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge last season, making five appearances.

Manager Paul Sturrock said: “We’re delighted to have signed Ben, he’s someone we identified as a player we feel can help us push for promotion.

“He has played in the Premier League this season so it just shows how highly the young lad is rated. He will offer us something different.

'He's here initially for 28 days and we will see how things progress during that time."
