Reeves: We must rally and go again

Midfielder says Blues must rally together and go again on Saturday

Ben Reeves says Blues must rally themselves as a group and go again on Saturday against Northampton Town in what the midfielder describes as ‘another crucial game’.

Having suffered defeat to Cheltenham Town last night, another of our play-off rivals, Blues entertain Northampton on Saturday with six first-team members out injured.

This is a time when Ben believes it’s important for Blues to show just how good the team spirit is at the Club and get back to winning ways in front of the home support.

Speaking after the game exclusively to Blues Player, Ben said: “Tonight was difficult to take and we’ve come away from the game without anything which is very disappointing.

“We knew how big a game it was but we just didn’t get going in the first-half and we gave away two goals. We responded in the second-half but just couldn’t find enough to get ourselves a draw.

“This is the time when we have to rally together and get behind each other because we’re missing a lot of players through injury. We’ve got a couple of days before a big game against Northampton.

“That’s another crucial game for us and we know it’s a game we need to win. They are doing well at the moment but as I say, if we can work hard on the training ground over the next couple of days I’m sure we can get a positive result in front of the home fans.

“The team spirit here is absolutely brilliant. The lads have been absolutely fantastic since I’ve joined and I’m confident that we will be able to turn it around and win on Saturday.”

Ben did give Blues a very slim chance of getting something from the game with his first goal for the Club in stoppage time, but it was too little too late. The midfielder was disappointed not to have given Blues the lead inside the opening minute of the game.

He added: “I should’ve scored in the first minute of the game but I wasn’t sure where the goalkeeper was and I couldn’t quite get the ball over him.

“I had a couple of other chances which I’m disappointed I didn’t take. I’m pleased to get on the scoresheet but it’s all about the team here and unfortunately tonight things just didn’t go our way.

“We know we’re good enough to go on a run, we just need a couple of good performances and we can be right back in contention. Hopefully that run can start on Saturday against Northampton.”
