Ben Reeves admits he didn't think he'd scored the decisive goal
Ben Reeves admitted he thought he had missed the chance to send Blues to Wembley before realising his shot had hit the back of the net.
Reeves scored in the 90th minute to put Blues 3-2 ahead on aggregate but says he thought his shot and had gone wide.
Luckily for Blues it hadn’t, and the Southampton loanee’s goal proved enough to ensure Paul Sturrock’s side prevailed against Leyton Orient to book a place at Wembley.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I actually thought I had mis-kicked the ball and it had missed the goal.
“I think it hit both my feet but it doesn’t matter really because it found the back of the net and it proved to be the winner.
“We had to battle really hard out there because Leyton Orient were a very good side but we got a few chances and luckily we took two of them.
“I haven’t been known for being a goalscorer throughout my career so I’m delighted to have been able to get two in my last few games.
“This one against Orient was certainly in different circumstances though, so I was absolutely delighted to get the winning goal.”
The youngster also says he didn’t have a clue how to celebrate the goal, and has taken a bit of stick from his team mates because of it.
He added: “The lads have been winding me up because they said it was a rubbish celebration and to be fair, it was.
“I just froze I think, I didn’t actually know how to celebrate I was just delighted to have seen it hit the back of the net.
“The celebrations at the end of the game more than made up for it though, I wasn’t expecting the fans to run on but it was such a good atmosphere.
“The fans have been fantastic since I’ve been here and were unbelievable tonight, they have really helped their team get to Wembley.”
