Danny Mayor has joined Blues on loan, and goes straight into the squad for tonight
Southend United are delighted to announce the arrival of Danny Mayor on loan from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
And Danny will go straight into the squad for tonight’s game against Cheltenham Town. He will wear the number 11 shirt.
Danny has joined initially on 28-days, with a view to extend the deal until the end of the season.
The winger joined Wednesday in August 2012 for an undisclosed fee from Preston North End.
While at Deepdale, he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Tranmere Rovers before going on to make 64 appearances for Preston.
The 22-year-old will be available to play in Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second-leg against Leyton Orient at Roots Hall.
Boss Paul Sturrock said: “With the news that Michael Timlin would be out for the rest of the season we looked to bring someone in.
“Danny is a quick wide man who will cause problems for defenders. We’re delighted to have been able to bring him in.
“With Michael out injured and Marc Laird and Michael Spillane cup-tied, it’s a bonus that Danny will be available for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.”
