Brown: Take the maximum on the road

28 December 2013

Phil Brown eyes six points from six from Blues' two festive away games

Phil Brown hopes Blues can make it six points from six in their back-to-back away games over Christmas when they head to Accrington Stanley on Sunday.

Blues kicked off their heavy festive schedule with the maximum points against AFC Wimbledon and face the long journey to the Crown Ground on Sunday.

But with three points already in the bag and the momentum that brings, Brown is now hoping to take another maximum on the road.

He said: “There’s not much time between the games so we’ll be doing the warm down and then preparing for the next game straight away.

“At this time of year it’s sometimes difficult to get out and train but credit to AFC Wimbledon for the pitch on Boxing Day, it was excellent.

“It’s going to be a tough game, back-to-back away games always is. But now we’ve got the three, you want to get the maximum six.

“That’s not me being greedy, if someone had asked before four might have been a good return, but we’re on three and we’ve got that confidence to go there and make it two out of two.

“We might need that little bit of luck, just like we did against AFC Wimbledon, but it seems to be on our side at the moment and hopefully that will continue.”

With four games in the space of nine days, Blues’ squad will be tested. But Brown is pleased with the options he has in his squad.

He added: “We’ve got Jack Payne, Conor Clifford and Adam Thompson all working very hard in training hoping for their chance.

“Cauley Woodrow took his opportunity at AFC Wimbledon and Freddy Eastwood and Marc Laird came on to play their part so it’s good to see.

“You always need your squad to be pushing each other and giving it absolutely everything, and that is what these boys are doing at the moment.”
