Phil Brown on his, and Luke Prosser's, nominations
Phil Brown says his and Luke Prosser’s nominations for Manager and Player of the Month is down to one big effort, not just from the players, but also the backroom staff.
Blues’ boss has guided his side to four wins in the league and one draw, as well as a win in the FA Cup, while Prosser has been a rock at the back, with Blues conceding just three times in November.
Brown says the nominations are a sign that his side are doing the right things, and he’s also delighted for Prosser.
He said: “It has been a very good month for us and it would have been absolutely fantastic had we held on for those last 20 seconds against Cheltenham Town.
“It’s down to all the hard work, not just from the players but everyone in the backroom team from Dave Penney to Graham Coughlan and Ben Clarkson the physio – everyone has played their part in a very successful month.
“Luke has been immense and funnily enough it has happened ever since he started wearing that headband!
“It has been a bit of a joke with the lads but he wears it for protection for a cut above his eye. It also reminds him though that he’s a centre half who needs to head it and be dominant.
“He is doing the basics well, he got the winning goal against York City and he’s been top drawer in the last six games.”
Talk of a ‘curse’ on being nominated as Manager of the Month is quickly dispelled by Brown.
He added: “If you win the award three times in a season, for example, you’re obviously doing something right.
“The nominations are for a fantastic team effort and an excellent month of the pitch.
“The talk of a curse is only there in my opinion because if you do win, everyone is watching that next game you play.
“That’s again down to the fact you’ve been successful and other teams are watching how you’re doing.”
