New loan signing says it's obvious after Saturday just how good the team spirit is here at the moment
Adam Thompson says Saturday showed him just how good the team spirit here at Southend United really is.
The 20-year-old loan signing, who only joined on Friday, was part of the squad for Saturday’s game against Hartlepool and replaced Marc Laird in midfield for the final ten minutes of the game.
After seeing Blues play the whole second half with ten men, Adam says the team spirit and unity among the squad is second to none.
He said: “What was clear to me on Saturday was that there is a really good team spirit here and that everyone is in this together.
“I was made to feel really welcome by the captain John White and the manager when I joined up with the team on Friday and Saturday was a great way to get started.
“You can see from just that one game just how hard the team works and exactly how the manager wants us to play.
“It was a great start and I was really pleased to be able to play some part in the game and to get off to a winning start.”
Adam came on in central midfield, and says he’s happy to play anywhere for Blues during his loan spell here at Roots Hall.
He added: “I can play anywhere across the back four and I’ve played in central midfield and right midfield for Northern Ireland.
“I just want to be playing games so if the manager picks me for any one of those positions I’ll be happy.”
Adam is away with the Northern Ireland under-21 squad at the moment and will play against Denmark on Wednesday before linking back up with Blues the following day.
