Striker says he's feeling as confident now as he did during his first spell at Southend United
Freddy Eastwood says he is feeling as confident now as he was during his first spell at Roots Hall.
Freddy has scored two goals in two games, against Hartlepool United and Northampton Town, and is hoping to he can extend his goalscoring run against Chesterfield this weekend.
The striker also says he’s confident Blues will still be above Chesterfield in the League 2 table come 5pm on Saturday.
He said: “We’re delighted with the start we’ve made to the season. We’ve made a really strong start. When you’re picking up positive results you look forward to games more.
“I’m really enjoying my football and I’m probably as confident as I was the first time I was with Southend.
“I just want to work as hard as I can and achieve as much as possible with Southend this season.
“I scored on my last away trip at Hartlepool and I’ve scored a few away at Chesterfield before so hopefully I can keep that going this weekend.
“We’re above them in the table at the moment and we’re going into the game with the belief we’ll still be above them come 5pm Saturday.
“We’re going to have to stand up to the challenge again, just as we did against Northampton last weekend.
“I just want to keep scoring goals and the team to keep winning games.”
Blues are yet to have a penalty this season, but Freddy says he’ll be happy to step up to the mark from 12 yards.
He said: “We’ve not actually spoken about who takes penalties, it’s probably just whoever gets the ball, probably me or Barry.
“The most important thing is we just score.”
