Striker Don Cowan has signed a month's contract with Blues, subject to international clearance
Southend United are pleased to announce that striker Don Cowan has signed a one-month contract at Roots Hall, subject to international clearance being granted.
The reason we are having to wait for international clearance from the FA is because Don spent the end of last season playing for Dundee in Scotland.
23-year-old Cowan began his career in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers where he made eight appearances.
After two loan spells with Longford Town in which he made 33 appearances scoring eight goals he earned a move to England with Stevenage.
He made nine appearances in all competitions for Stevenage during the 2011/12 season, but didn’t feature at all during 2012/13 before being loaned to Braintree Town.
After just one appearance for Braintree his spell was cut short due to injury. He left Stevenage by mutual consent in January 2013.
Cowan joined Scottish side Dundee for the remainder of last season before joining Blues on trial this summer.
Phil Brown said: “Don provides us with something that I feel we’re missing a bit and that is an abundance of pace.
“It’s great to have him on board and I’m sure he will do well for us.
“He’s not been match fit in the game he’s played so far but he’s getting there and I’m sure he’ll excite fans.”
