Manager happy to see Freddy Eastwood score the winning goal
Phil Brown was delighted to see striker Freddy Eastwood grab his first goal of the season in Blues’ excellent 1-0 away win at Hartlepool United.
Freddy scored just five minutes into Saturday’s game following excellent work from midfielder Will Atkinson, and Brown was pleased to see the 29-year-old hit the back of the net.
He said: “We’re all delighted for Freddy because that goal will give him a lot of confidence. He’s worked hard in pre-season and he’s in great shape at the moment and we’ve seen the benefits.
“He was involved in the goal against Plymouth and then got his first of the season against Hartlepool. A fit and determined Freddy is a huge bonus to us so we’re pleased he’s off the mark.
“Once Barry Corr had been sent off he was playing up top on his own but worked extremely hard and led the line brilliantly.
“We’ve got four strikers here now all wanting to be starting games with Craig Reid and Don Cowan coming in and that’s created competition for places.
“Freddy has obviously stepped up to the mark in the first two games but with Barry’s red card it means Don or Craig will have the chance.
“It’s good to have that competition and with Barry and Freddy both scoring the goals in the first two games there’s plenty of positives from the forwards already this season.”
