Tamika: The perfect way to sign off

17 April 2013

Midfielder delighted to end his loan spell with Blues with a win

Tamika Mkandawire thanked everyone connected with Southend United after he completed his loan spell following the 2-0 win at Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

Mkandawire returned for a second loan spell in March and has played a key role during his three months at the Club this season.

The midfielder said it was the perfect way to sign off his time with the Club as goals from Barry Corr and Britt Assombalonga were enough to beat relegation-threatened Aldershot.

Tam said: “I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everyone. The fans, both managers who I have worked under and the players who I’ve really enjoyed working with during my time here.

“I’ve had a very enjoyable time at the Club and I can’t thank everyone enough. I have been able to come here and play regularly for a side who have been battling for the play-offs.

“It was the perfect way to sign off my time with the Club. It was a deserved win.

“I thought we were excellent at Aldershot and put in a really solid and hardworking performance against a side who have everything to play for in the final few games.

“It was also good to keep a clean sheet and make it two in a row. You know what you’re going to get when you’re alongside Ryan Cresswell, he’s a very good player.

“I enjoy playing both in midfield and in defence, I am happy in either of the positions I’m just pleased to have been able to play regular football.

“The performance at Aldershot made you think what might have been if we’d have been able to put in a few more performances like that in recent weeks, but it’s not been the case.

“The players are all very determined, I’d have loved to have been able to play in the final two games but I’ve had a great time during my two loan spells.”
