Midfielder happy to be involved in Blues' draw with Bristol Rovers
Matt Lund hopes he did enough on Saturday in the defensive midfield role to impress boss Phil Brown and keep his place in the side for the remaining three games of the season.
Brown, speaking in his post-match Press Conference, said he was pleased with how Matt did, having only worked on it on the Friday, while the midfielder also felt he had put in an assured performance.
Having not featured regularly since Brown’s arrival, and been ill most of last week, Matt was delighted to be back in the side for the visit of Bristol Rovers on Saturday – a club who he knows very well.
Matt said: “It’s great to be back playing because it has been a little bit frustrating in recent weeks. I just want to be playing football so it was good to be out there against Bristol Rovers.
“I thought I did okay. I’ve been ill all week, laying in bed with a fever, but I was in on Friday and we worked on something with me in a slightly different role.
“Hopefully the manager was impressed with how I did in there and I can keep my place between now and the end of the season because that’s all I want to do.
“Bristol Rovers are a good side, I know most of their team having spent six months there earlier in the season. Interestingly their form improved when I left them in January.
“It’s nice to see them doing well and picking up results, fair play to them for getting a point today because they defended well, but I thought we deserved all three.
“In the second-half we had a number of chances and I just can’t believe we haven’t managed to find a goal. But we defended well and never really looked like losing the game which is a big positive.”
