Leonard says Blues will have to battle again at York, just like they did at Aldershot Town
Ryan Leonard says Blues will once again have to battle their way to three points when they visit York City on Saturday.
Blues produced a strong display against Aldershot Town, who find themselves firmly in a scrap to avoid relegation from the Football League, on Tuesday night to come away with Phil Brown’s first win in charge.
Saturday’s opponents York find themselves in a similar situation and Leonard says Blues will need to be at their very best to come away with another three points at Bootham Crescent.
“When we went to Aldershot on Tuesday night we knew they would scrap for everything,” he said: “And we really had to dig deep to get the three points against them.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to have to do on Saturday against York because they find themselves in a very similar position to Aldershot so we know what to expect.
“It’s going to be a difficult game but if we approach it with the same battling qualities that we did against Aldershot then there’s every chance we will come away with another three points.
“We’ve kept two clean sheets in the last two games and probably deserved to win against Bristol Rovers. If we keep another clean sheet Saturday and can produce in front of goal once again we’ll have made it three games unbeaten.
“I think it was a relief to finally pick up a win because it’s been a long time since we had that winning feeling. Hopefully that will give us the confidence to produce more of the same at York on Saturday.”
