Blues boss disappointed after 1-0 defeat against Morecambe
Phil Brown was left disappointed after watching his side finish the season with a 1-0 defeat to Morecambe at Roots Hall.
Brown admitted one mistake was enough to cost his side as they failed to find a way through a resilient Morecambe side.
Blues were on top during the opening exchanges but suffered a setback in the 34th minute as the visitors went ahead, and they were unable to mount a comeback in the final game of the campaign.
Brown said: “I’ve learned very quickly that one mistake in games can cost you and that’s exactly what has happened today.
“Sean has been our most consistent player and performed well all season, but that one mistake, his first since I came in, has cost us today.
“During the opening 30 minutes we were on top, there was only one side in it but we couldn’t find the back of the net.
“We had two or three really good chances but we couldn’t stick the ball in the goal and then they’ve gone down the other end and gone ahead.
“That goal really seemed to knock the players’ confidence and belief and that’s disappointing because I thought they played with a freedom up until that point.
“We huffed and we puffed in the second-half but we didn’t really create any clear cut chances.
“Morecambe defended well but we didn’t really threaten which isn’t good enough.
“Mitch and Seedy both came on in the second-half and did well. I wasn’t just throwing them on for the sake of it, I thought their enthusiasm may help us but we didn’t quite have enough to find a goal.”
