Blues boss wants his side to finish the season strongly, starting against Bristol Rovers
Phil Brown is determined for Blues to end the season strongly, starting with a win against John Ward’s Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall on Saturday.
The play-offs may now be out of the equation for Blues following a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Rochdale on Wednesday evening, but the Blues boss wants his side to put on a good showing against Rovers, and for the remainder of the campaign.
He said: “There’s still four games left in the current season and four more games for the players to show me what they can do.
“I was impressed by the 90 minutes against Bradford, the second-half against Fleetwood, the first-half against Rochdale and about 70 minutes against Crewe at Wembley.
“I’ve only been in charge of one home and I can tell there’s a little bit of anxiousness from the players when they are playing at Roots Hall but it’s up to me to find out why that is and put it right.
“We’ve got two home games and two away games remaining, it’s all about consistency. This season, we are probably a top four away team but a bottom four home team.
“We don’t just want the season to just fizzle out and it would be great to put on a show for the home fans, it’s important we put in a good performance for them.
“Our aim now is simple. We want to go and win the remaining four games we have left this season.”
Brown will also make a couple of changes on Saturday to cast his eye over some of the others in the squad, but he says the side that goes out will be more than capable of winning the game.
He added: “There will be a couple of new faces coming into the team for the game against Bristol Rovers, that’s for sure.
“It will give me a chance to see a couple of players I haven’t seen as much of so far and give them a chance to impress.
“It’s not my team at the moment, but it’s giving me a chance to see who impresses and who will be part of the team next season.
“That’s not to say the team that I put out there won’t be capable of winning the game, because we’ve got a good squad here and some very good players.”
