Boss delighted with forward options

Phil Brown praises his striking options ahead of Blues' trip to York

Phil Brown believes he has a wealth of attacking talent here at Blues and hopes his strikers can help fire his side to two wins in the two remaining games this season.

Barry Corr and Britt Assombalonga both scored on Tuesday night against Aldershot and were partnered by Freddy Eastwood who has impressed in Blues’ last two games.

That means Gavin Tomlin, joint-top scorer this season has been left on the bench along with youngster Seedy Njie while Neil Harris is out injured for the remainder of the season.

Brown said: “The first thing a lot of managers do when they come to a new club is look at their strike force and I’ve been massively impressed by the wealth of talent we have in forward positions here at the club.

“You only have to look at Gavin Tomlin and Seedy Njie being on the bench to realise we’ve got some very good strikers at the club.

“To have Gavin and Seedy ready to come on to replace the three we have out there is brilliant.

“We’ve got Britt, who is probably playing one or two division below where I believe he could play; Barry who has come into some goal scoring form which is a big bonus, and Freddy, who can unlock doors and play in a way only he can.

“It’s a wealth of talent. They all put in a solid performance on Tuesday night and got the goals to give them confidence. Hopefully they can produce the same at York on Saturday.”
