Bentley handed start

22 September 2012

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley will make his full debut for Southend United today after Paul Smith's injury.

Smith misses today's match against Exeter City with a neck injury picked up in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Gillingham.

That means Bentley, 19, will make his first full start having previously appeared as a substitute on two occasions.

Meanwhile, Luke Prosser is recalled to the starting line-up after a calf problem whilst Elliot Benyon partners Britt Assombalonga in attack following a groin injury to Gavin Tomlin.

Striker Barry Corr makes the subs bench after 17 months out of action whilst under 18 keeper Ted Smith provides cover for Bentley.

Southend: Bentley, Clohessy, Cresswell, Timlin, Martin, Hurst, Prosser, Spicer, Assombalonga, Barker, Benyon.

Subs: Straker, Eastwood, Corr, Leonard, Woodyard, Smith, Njie.
