Striker Britt Assombalonga has today extended his stay at Roots Hall until the start of January.
The 19-year-old Watford forward has been an instant hit at Southend United, scoring four goals in six appearances since the start of the season.
And now the youngster is set to help Blues promotion push until at least the start of next year.
“I want to play games and get more time under my belt,” Assombalonga told the official website.
“This is my first taste of League football and it has been great, even if it took me a game of two to find my feet.
“The manager knows the game and there are some experienced players here that I can learn off.
“If I can carry on learning my trade at Southend United then it will help me grab the attention of the manager back at Watford.”
And after scoring four times in his last three outings for the Blues the Zaire born frontman is targeting another 16 goals this year.
“I’ve set myself a target of 20 goals for the season,” he admitted. "Last year that target was 15 and I managed 16 so I am hoping to break another landmark this time round.”
Assombalonga’s loan will run until 3rd January 2013.
