Midfielder Michael Timlin is expecting a very different Burton Albion side from that of last season on Tuesday evening.
The Brewers are Southend United’s next opponents in npower League Two at Roots Hall tomorrow night.
And Timlin knows 9th placed Burton are a tougher prospect than the side that finished in 17th position last season.
“Burton are one of the teams to watch out for,” said the ex-Fulham trainee.
“They’ve just signed Luke Rooney from Swindon Town who is a very good player.
“He’s a goal threat and dangerous so we have to make sure that we watch him.
“But they have a decent team all over this year who seem to be catching a lot of teams on the break away from home.
“We will need to make sure we apply ourselves well if we are to get a result.”
Albion’s visit is the first of three home matches in seven days at Roots Hall.
That comes after a win against Exeter City and a draw at Plymouth Argyle last weekend.
And Timlin is targeting another two wins against Burton and Barnet.
“After the win against Exeter and a draw at Plymouth then two wins this week would make that result even better,” he said.
“You have to take as many points as possible from home games and then what happens away is a bonus.
“But we’re concentrating on Burton for now and getting a good result tomorrow night.”
