Southend make three changes

Southend United boss Paul Sturrock has made three changes to the side that lost 1-0 at Morecambe on Saturday.

Mark Phillips replaces Anthony Straker in defence, with Chris Barker switching to left-back for tonight’s match at Roots Hall against Aldershot Town.

Meanwhile, John Spicer and Alex Woodayrd create a new central midfield partnership.

Michael Timlin misses out with an ankle injury whilst Ryan Leonard is suffering with a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Southend: Smith, Clohessy, Cresswell, Martin, Hurst, Phillips, Spicer, Assombalonga, Tomlin, Barker, Woodyard.

Subs: Straker, Coughlan, Eastwood, Bentley, Benyon, Clarke-Harris and Paxman.
