Defender wants to continue good defensive form against Bury
Mark Phillips is hoping Blues’ defence can continue their excellent form and shut out Kevin Blackwell’s Bury this weekend.
The defender, though, knows tomorrow’s second round FA Cup tie against the League One outfit following a run of good results for the side from Gigg Lane.
He said: “They are in a league higher which suggests the standards are good, so we know it will be a tough game.
“They’ve picked up some very good results over the last few weeks so it’s got the making of a good game. They were a very good side when they were in League 2.
“But I think we have just got to take it as another game and look to keep the winning streak and performances going, it’s no different.
“We have given it our all and things are going very well now, it seems things are going for us when they might not have been earlier in the season.”
Blues have conceded just four goals in seven games, with two of those coming away at Bristol Rovers, and Mark, who feels he is back to full fitness following a few niggles, wants to keep defensively solid on Saturday.
He added: “I’m feeling fine now. I feel fighting fit and I’m really loving the games at the moment.
“I think the defence are forming a really nice partnership and have been solid of late.
“We’ve done pretty well all season so we will just continue trying to stop the goals at our end.”
