Spicer faces Ipswich fitness test

31 July 2012

Trialist John Spicer faces a late fitness test ahead of tonight’s pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town.

The centre midfielder made the trip to Madrid over the weekend but was unable to be involved in either of the Blues two games due to a tight thigh muscle.

However, he will be assessed ahead of the Championship sides visit to Roots Hall to determine if he can play this evening.

Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Stephen Brogan will be given another opportunity to impress manager Paul Sturrock.

The ex-Rotherham United player featured in the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid C and the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano B over the weekend after his initial trial at Braintree Town.

Brogan will line-up against the Tractor Boys one more time before manager Paul Sturrock makes a decision on his future.

One player not involved tonight however will be trialist goalkeeper Phil Smith who also joined the squad in Spain.

That means goalkeeper Daniel Bentley will be given 90 minutes tonight in the match that kicks-off at 7.45pm.

Entrance is £10 for adult Season Card Holders and £5 for concession Season Card Holders with prices £2 higher for adult non-Season Card Holders.

Please note only the East Stand is open for home supporters.
