Norwich City booked their place in the final of the BC Worldwide Challenge for the second consecutive year after disposing of Millwall 4-1 today.
The Canaries had virtually claimed their spot in the final by the ninth minute after Ismail Seremba’s quickfire double and, despite Charlie Penny reducing the arrears, an own goal and Carlton Morris’ second half strike saw the East Anglians triumph comfortably.Millwall had the first opportunity to score in just the second minute when JP Rylah nodded Penny’s hanging cross into the gloves of Arie Hammann, but it was Norwich that edged in front three minutes later. Cameron King’s through-ball split open the Lions’ defence, and Seremba coolly guided the ball into the bottom right-hand corner.
Millwall managed to get themselves back onto the scoresheet in the 18th minute. Max Fitzgerald’s ball from the edge of his own penalty area invited Penny to challenge with Hammann, and the custodian was adjudged to have pushed the forward to the floor. Penny stepped up to send the ‘keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot and make it 2-1.
However, having established a foothold in the game, Millwall’s hopes were swiftly quashed as Norwich moved two goals clear again. Murphy’s inswinging corner was not dealt with by Wellman, and the ball rolled inadvertently off Fitzgerald’s boot and into the net to register an own goal.
Matters immediately got worse for Millwall after half-time when full-back Romhoum picked out Morris who converted at the second attend to book City's place in Sunday's final.
