Thousands of Southend United fans turned out for Meet the Blues Day on Sunday with even the sunshine making an appearance at Boots and Laces.Supporters turned out in force to meet the players at the Club's family fun day and were given the opportunity to watch Paul Sturrock's side put through their paces in a training session.
The entertainment didn't stop there as several players were put in the stocks and fans were allowed to pelt them with wet sponges.
Along with a display from the Club's Centre of Excellence the crowd were wowed by the football freestyle skills of Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch as well as being given a taster of our new matchday dancers Wiggles Dance Club.
With our new home and away shirts officially going on sale supporters snapped up the new navy blue and yellow strips in large numbers whilst the queue for the BBQ remained healthy all day.
And whilst the side stalls, penalty competition and five-a-side football kept the children entertained Blues fanatics were treated to a Celebrity vs. Legends match on the main arena.
United's Legend side included such former greats as Mark Bentley, Duncan Jupp and Steve Tilson whilst television star and former Blues youth team player Mark Wright brought his Essex United side to a sunny Boots and Laces with the celebrity finishing eventual 8-4 winners.
