Brown set for Southend trial

20 July 2012

Former Hibernian goalkeeper Mark Brown will feature against Braintree Town on Saturday.

The ex-Rangers, Motherwell, Inverness and Celtic stopper is set to be handed a trial at Cressing Road this weekend.

Brown is one of five players being given the once over by boss Paul Sturrock against the Blue Square Premier outfit.

Also set to appear is American midfielder Anton Peterlin who spent last season in League One with Walsall.

Peterlin will be joined by fellow midfield trialist John Spicer who is back for a second match after playing in Wednesday’s 3-2 triumph against Great Wakering Rovers.

Sturrock will also take a look at Stalybridge Celtics left sided utility player Stephen Brogan and former St. Johnstone forward Jordan Robertson.

Robertson, 24, spent last season with League One side Scunthorpe United where he made 12 starts scoring three goals.

Kick-off at Braintree is 3:00pm.
