Bentley starts versus Ipswich

31 July 2012

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley will play 90 minutes against Ipswich Town tonight in the Blues pre-season friendly.

The keeper will feature against the Tractor Boys at Roots Hall this evening.

However, there is no place for trialist midfielder John Spicer who failed a fitness test on a thigh problem today.

That injury kept the former Notts County player on the sidelines during Southend’s stay in Madrid.

Ex-Rotherham United trialist Stephen Brogan starts on the bench.

Ryan Leonard will partner Kane Ferdinand in centre midfield whilst Gavin Tomlin and Neil Harris are featured in attack.

Southend: Bentley, Clohessy, Straker, Ferdinand, Cresswell, Phillips, Hall, Leonard, Harris, Tomlin, Hurst.

Subs: Barker, Prosser, Brogan, Martin, Benyon, Eastwood.
