Tomlin wants goals to keep flowing

1 December 2012

Striker bags another in Bury draw and just wants to keep finding the back of the net

Blues goalscorer Gavin Tomlin says he doesn’t mind who is playing up top with him - as long as he can keep finding the back of the net.

Gavin produced a moment of brilliance to draw Blues level against Bury and set up a second round replay.

Freddy Eastwood lined up alongside him in attack with usual partner in crime Britt Assombalonga ineligible, and Tomlin says Blues’ attacking talent is a real strength.

He said: “I was happy to get the goal, I just managed to squeeze past the defender and poke the ball home.

“I was going to pass it to Freddy but the defender closed the angle so I just went for goal and thankfully it went in.

“It was good playing alongside Freddy and then Elliott and Barry both came on and did well.

“All the strikers here have scored goals throughout their career and that’s a real positive.

“I’m just pleased to get on the score sheet again and keep up my form in front of goal.”

And Gavin believes that his run of goals has given him the confidence in front of goal, just as we saw against Bury.

“Maybe a month or so back I would have just passed it across the goal,” he said.

“But I’ve started scoring and when you’re doing that you pick up more and more confidence.

“I’ll just keep working hard and hopefully the goals can continue to flow.”
