Tomlin: Momentum is key

24 December 2012

Striker believes form is important at this time of year

Striker Gavin Tomlin believes Blues’ momentum can help them remain unbeaten through a hectic Christmas schedule.

Friday night’s 3-0 win against Chesterfield extended Blues’ unbeaten run to 13 matches, and avoiding defeat against Dagenham on Boxing Day and Burton at the weekend would mean Blues will have gone two months without defeat.

Tomlin said: “Momentum is massive during a busy period such as Christmas because sometimes that can carry you in games.

“If you’re struggling for form and not picking up points, Christmas time can be the worst time with games coming so quick.

“But when you’re in a run of form like we are at the moment you just want to be playing games and continuing the run.

“Of course we’d like to finish the year unbeaten, we said after Bristol Rovers we need to go on a good run and that’s exactly what we’ve done.

“Hopefully we can keep that going against Dagenham, but we know it’s going to be another tough game.”

Tomlin, who endured a difficult spelt at Dagenham earlier in his career, believes the away support which has been fantastic all season, can help drive Blues to a Boxing Day win.

“You know what, the fans away from home this season have been absolutely brilliant,” he added.

“Everyone says it but it is true, fans away from home can really help you, especially when they are in good voice.

“It’s going to be a good game that’s for sure between two sides in good form at the minute, so I’m looking forward to it.”
