Tamika: Get back to winning ways

31 December 2012

Midfielder wants Blues to bounce back from defeat to Burton Albion

For Tamika Mkandawire, Saturday's defeat at Burton Albion was a new experience for him.

The midfielder had not lost since his arrival on loan until the 2-0 defeat at the Pirelli Stadium but he's determined to help Blues get back to winning ways with victory against Gillingham.

Speaking ahead of the game on New Years Day, Tamika said: "It was always going to be a tough game but we were disappointed to see the run come to an end.

"Obviously I hadn't lost since I joined and it would have been nice to keep that going but it's now about how we respond against Gillingham.

"There's really no better way to do it than against a side who have been at the top of the table all season.

"We will work on things ahead of the game and make sure that anything that went wrong against Burton, we put right on Tuesday against Gillingham."

Having suffered their first defeat since his arrival, Tamika has been impressed the response and the atmosphere in the camp following the loss.

He added: "The lads have all shown a really good response, we have to, especially ahead of such an important game.

"They knew the run would probably come to an end at some point but now we all want to start another one.

"I went on a late run with Millwall and we managed to get promotion, an unbeaten run really can change everything.

"We've experienced one of 14 games but now we're all determined to go on another one - starting against Gillingham on Tuesday."
