Paul: Two sides full of confidence

Blues boss expecting entertaining game at Roots Hall this Saturday

Blues boss Paul Sturrock is expecting another tough test for his side on Saturday when in-form Bradford City visit Roots Hall in League 2.

Paul says that both sides should be full of confidence following cup success in midweek and believes that will set up another excellent game of football.

“It’s going to be a very difficult game,” said Paul. “They are one of the form teams at the moment.

“They are sitting just above us in the league and are still in all four cup competitions which in itself is a tremendous achievement.

“They will come here to Roots Hall on Saturday brimming with confidence, and so they should be.

“But we will be confident too because we’ve done well recently, so it should be a real exciting game of football.”

Paul praised Bradford’s efforts against Arsenal on Tuesday, but was relieved to hear that game went to extra time too.

“It was real backs to the wall for Bradford to get the win, as any team would have to do against Arsenal,” he added.

“Thankfully it went to penalties so it’ll be level on Saturday, and hopefully the pitch will be slightly better than it was on Tuesday.”

Paul will welcome back Tam Mkandawire and Britt Assombalonga on Saturday, and with four league games before another cup tie, he’s hoping to have a settled side once more.

“Things are going well, the boys are working hard and the team spirit is excellent so they are enjoying their football.

“The chopping and changing that we’ve had to do because of cup competitions hasn’t been great and I would like to get back to a settled team starting on Saturday

“Britt and Tam are two excellent players so they will be fresh which could well help us against Bradford.”

Paul Sturrock's preview with be on Blues Player shortly.
