Britt wants win to cap his 20th birthday

Striker, who celebrated his birthday on Thursday, wants a win and a goal to top it off

Blues striker Britt Assombalonga wants to cap his birthday celebrations on Thursday with a win against Fleetwood this weekend.

Britt, on loan from Watford, has been in excellent form for Blues and has helped Paul Sturrock’s side rise up the League 2 table.

The 20-year-old is hoping he can both add to his goals tally, and help Blues make it ten unbeaten on Saturday at Highbury Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the trip, Britt said: “I turned 20 on Thursday and hopefully on Saturday I can get a goal and we can get the win.

“It would be nice to get that goal to celebrate it but of course the win is the most important thing.

“We’ve been in very good form and picked up some very good results. We’re scoring goals and defending well and that’s all you can ask for.

“I’m really happy here at the moment, it’s a great environment and I enjoy playing for this club. I just want to keep scoring goals and helping the team climb the table.”

Britt has been left slightly frustrated by the fact he is unable to play in the FA Cup, a decision he can’t quite understand, but he’s determined to make the most of the games he can play in.

“I would love to be playing in the FA Cup,” he added. “But unfortunately I can’t.

“I can’t really understand why but that’s just part of football and you get on with it.

“It’s frustrating because you play a run of matches and then you have to miss one. With it going to a replay it means I miss another game.

“You just have to take you chance when you are playing. It was great to be back on Tuesday and hopefully I did enough to stay in for Saturday’s game.”

An interview with Britt is available on Blues Player.
