Martin hoping to be fit

29 August 2012

Winger David Martin is hoping to be fit in time to face Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues midfielder was a surprise starter at Northampton Town last weekend as United recorded their first point of the season.

However, a second half injury forced Martin off after 63 minutes, although the wide man is hopeful of being available in time for the weekend.

“It was just an impact injury and thankfully it’s not as bad as we first feared,” said Martin.

“It’s settled down now and, touch wood, it will be fine for the Wycombe game because I would love to stay involved.

“We were all pleased to get our first point of the season against Northampton and now we want to go and make that an even better result by beating Wycombe on Saturday.”

However, for that to happen, Martin believes Blues must again take the chances that came their way.

“We were more clinical at Northampton and need to keep that up,” he said.

“In our last home game against Accrington we wasted a lot of chances and we can’t afford to do that again.”
