Paul Sturrock has admitted that it is unlikely any deal will be struck to sign Stephen Brogan in the near future.
Brogan, 24, had been on trial at Roots Hall this summer in a bid to win a contract.
But Sturrock has revealed he thinks any move for the left-sided player is unlikely at this stage.
Sturrock told the official website: “Stephen is one that we have been chatting to but the situation with the body count and budget is his position one we really have to fill?
“He has great potential but at this moment in time we have a lot of players in that kind of position so that is the way I look at it.”
Brogan is currently no longer training with the club.
