Manager Paul Sturrock has confirmed he is in talks with several players ahead of the closure of the August transfer window.
Teams have until 11pm on Friday night to conclude their transfer business before the window closes.
And Sturrock continues to hold talks as he aims to bolster his squad.
“We’re in negotiations with several players at this moment but whether they do happen is in the lap of the gods,” he told the official website.
“Negotiations can be a bit like that sometimes but we have been trying to bring a couple of players in.”
Despite speculation surrounding some of Southend’s players, Sturrock also confirmed no bids had be received as yet for any of his squad.
“I would expect this afternoon to get a bit busier but we have had nobody in touch about any of our players,” he added.
