Bentley to start versus Spurs

10 August 2012

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley will play 90 minutes against a Tottenham Hotspur XI tonight.

The 19-year-old stopper will line-up against a Spurs reserve side at Roots Hall this evening, kick-off 7.45pm.

Manager Paul Sturrock is continuing his bid to sign an experienced goalie before Tuesday’s Capital One Cup first round trip to Peterborough United.

Meanwhile, trialist midfielder John Spicer will also feature against the Premier League side.

Spicer, 28, has spent the last three weeks on trial at Roots Hall with Sturrock stating after Tuesday’s pre-season defeat to Millwall that the former Notts County man had staked a claim for a contract.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that their travelling party is likely to include Danny Rose, Adam Smith, Dean Parrett, John Bostock, Ryan Mason, Souleymane Coulibaly and Cristian Ceballos.

All seven have tasted first team experience at White Hart Lane, mainly in the Europa League, with Rose having made 29 first team appearances.

Rose has also just returned from international duty for Great Britain making four appearances in the Olympics as Team GB reached the quarter finals before exiting on penalties against South Korea.

Tickets are still available for tonight with only the East and West Stands open for home supporters.

Priced at £15 for adults and £5 for concessions call the Blues Box Office on 08444 77 00 77 or visit Roots Hall in person to purchase your ticket.
